Group Therapy Program
The MyHab team is committed to helping you or a loved one achieve long-term health & free from alcohol addiction.
Group Therapy Melbourne
When we enter treatment we are often guarded and frightened about people knowing us too well. At MyHab we help uncover secrets and fears and unpack baggage that has developed over the years.
We often enter treatment with limited self awareness and blind spots. We think we know what we are doing but these blind spots often prevent us from seeing what is really happening around us.
Group therapy at MyHab will help you be aware of how you are dealing with important issues in your life and what you can do differently. It’s not about teaching “shoulds” or rights or wrongs. We focus on what is, and what we want and need. This is how MyHab group therapy helps us know ourselves better.
Our team encourages members to take risks and interact honestly. Also known as grinding this helps us talk, think and share what is important to us. The more that we reveal the more serene and calm we begin to feel.

Gambling Addiction
You might be dependent on alcohol if you have three or more of the following problems in a year:
- You cannot quit or control how much alcohol you drink.
- You need to consume more alcohol to get the same effect.
- You have withdrawal symptoms when you stop drinking. This can include feeling sick to your stomach, getting sweaty, having the shakes and/or anxiety.
- You spend a lot of time drinking and recovering from your drinking, or you have given up other activities so you can drink.
- You have tried to stop drinking or to cut back the amount you drink but haven’t been able to.
- You continue to drink alcohol even though it harms your relationships and causes physical and mental health problems.
A Real Life Case
I was ‘admitted’ to Myhab, not totally of my own choice, mainly because alcoholics like me find it difficult to admit that we are addicts, but unfortunately my family were so frustrated with my behaviour and lack of interest in everyday life that they insisted I do something about it.
After much discussion and resistance initially from me, we made the choice that I live in for 28 days.
Thanks to my time at Myhab, my life is so much better without having to face my drunk self on a daily basis, I was so close to losing my family, my friends and my self-esteem, if not my life!!! I had no idea how bad my addiction had become as it just became part of “normal” daily existence…..not life!
I am so grateful for my sobriety, one day at a time, thanks to MyHab and the dedicated staff lead by Sheryl who were beside me every step of the way.
